However, it\u2019s important to remember that this is a G-series lens, which means that even though it\u2019s one of the cheapest lenses in the system, it\u2019s still better than any equivalent lens for smaller formats. A 63mm lens corresponds to a standard focal length of around 50mm in the small format (i.e. so-called full-frame cameras). In other words, the aperture equivalent is f\/2.2. Its 10 elements in eight groups include one ELD (extra-low dispersion) element, which reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing. Colour accuracy and brightness are excellent. The fluorine coating repels moisture from the front element, and the lens is otherwise well protected.<\/p>\n<p>The lens has a manual aperture corrector which gives a very tangible sense of aperture adjustment.<\/p>\n<p>The front optical group is responsible for focusing, which means that the lens has no distortion throughout the focusing range.
