The Zeiss Otus 55mm F\/1.4 features unique technical characteristics that are particularly well-suited to professional photography with full-frame digital system cameras. The image quality of this new lens, previously seen only in medium-format systems, offers entirely new possibilities, without compromise.<\/p>\n<p>The high-resolution sensors in digital system cameras also place high demands on the optics. The new Otus meets these challenges with its outstanding sharpness, contrast and control of chromatic aberration. The lens is particularly well suited to product, fashion and studio photography. Professional photographers working in these fields no longer need to compromise on performance or quality.<\/p>\n<p>The Otus 55mm F\/1.4 is the first professional-grade lens from Zeiss in its range that makes no compromises on quality. \u2018Otus\u2019 is the Latin name for a genus of birds belonging to the owl family, known for their particularly keen night vision \u2013 what could be a more fitting name!<\/p>\n<p>Zeiss\u2019s aim was to create the best lens on the market designed for digital system cameras. The only way to achieve this was to use the complex Distagon design, which is normally only used in wide-angle lenses.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the virtually non-existent longitudinal chromatic aberration, there is virtually no colour fringing in the images. Thanks to its superb performance at full aperture, the lens is also an excellent choice for close-ups and portraits. When used with a modern high-resolution sensor for architectural and landscape photography, even the finest details can be captured.<\/p>\n<p>The lens features a completely new optical and mechanical design, developed specifically to meet the requirements of the latest high-resolution sensors. The Otus 55mm F\/1.4 lens features a floating construction comprising 12 elements in 10 groups, including a double-sided aspherical element, as well as six specially manufactured lenses that reduce reflections and distortions. These advanced features produce unique, flawless photographs.
