The Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera is a miniature digital camera with a Super 16mm sensor inside. The camera is designed for remote use almost anywhere. The sensor supports 1080p video at up to 60 fps with 13 aperture dynamics. The Blackmagic Design Micro Cinema Camera features an active MFT bayonet that can use native MFT lenses or can be adapted to a wide range of modern or vintage lenses using optional third party adapters. Video is recorded to SDHC/SDXC memory cards in 12-bit CinemaDNG Raw format, or 10-bit Apple ProRes format.

Compact in size, the Blackmagic Design Micro Cinema Camera is small and compact in design, like action cameras, and therefore well suited for helmet mounts or POV action scenes, and quadcopter mounts. In other words, the camera is handy for places where a big camera won't fit. In order to control the camera when it is in difficult locations, the camera is designed to be remotely controlled by live video via the camera's expansion port. With the included cable adapter, you get four analog PWM radio inputs for mapping reels, buttons, and joysticks. These can be used to control start/stop, focus and iris functions (on MFT lenses). If you want more controls, an 18 channel S.bus control with Futaba radio system is available.

In addition to radio support The cable adapter has LANC control, power, genlock, and composite video if you want to transfer the image wirelessly, so you can see what you're shooting when you control the camera. For high quality monitoring, the camera also includes a full HDMI output. Attachable to the rear of the camera Canon LP-E6 type battery will keep your device alive for 1.5 hours. Additional power can be conveniently supplied via a cable adapter if the shooting time is extended.

Compact design combines advanced miniaturisation and a unique expansion port to create a personalised rig for remote access and monitoring. Use it like an action camera or quad camera. Its core is made from a lightweight magnesium alloy that makes it stiff enough to shoot anywhere. In addition to its renowned remote capabilities, the camera can also be controlled directly from the buttons on the body.

Super 16mm sensor with 13 aperture dynamic range. The sensor outputs 1080p video at up to 60 frames per second, and with a dynamic range of a whopping 13 apertures the look is quite cinematic. So you get full use of all the sensor data when colour defining with DaVinci Resolve. You also have the Film Log and Rec709 dynamics options available. With DaVinci Resolve, colour analysis can be done natively or you can transcode the files to a different format to suit your needs.

Active Micro Four Thirds bayonet. The universal bayonet allows you to take advantage of a wide range of lenses, with a wide variety of primes and zooms available natively at a wide range of quality and price points. MFT lenses allow you to adjust focus, aperture, and zoom remotely. Many MFT lenses also have a built-in image stabilizer, which makes the camera quite handy for places where movement might occur. If you don't need electronic control, you can use third-party adapters to take advantage of vintage glasses

Raw and ProRes recording. You can record to SDHC/SDXC memory cards in CinemaDNG or ProRes format. CinemaDNG files are 12-bit log files and contain all the data from the camera's sensor. With it, you have a very large dynamic range to use for colour definition, and you can adjust for example the white balance in post-processing. The leeway for adjusting exposure is also quite different. If space is at a premium you can use the 10-bit ProRes codec, which still has broadcast quality. Mole formats are easy to edit with Resolve.

Expansion Port and remote control. The DB-HD15 expansion port allows the use of a customized remote controller, and power supply, in addition to monitoring. The included cable adapter gives you access to the camera's functions. The bundle also includes LANC, video output, Genlock, and four analog PWM radio control buses. Buttons and reels can thus be remotely activated. You can also use the 18 channel S.Bus interface.

Remote monitoring. The expansion port also includes an NTSC and PAL composite video output for connecting cost-effective wireless monitor solutions. This allows you to see exactly what's happening even when you're not within camera range. Of course, the camera also has a proper HDMI connection for direct video connection. Both the composite and HDMI outputs can be connected to the camera's control monitors already connected to them.

Sound. The camera's built-in microphone is omnidirectional and its design reduces unwanted wind noise, giving you a clearer sound. The camera also has a 3.5mm connection for an external microphone or line level device. The built-in microphone automatically switches off when the interface is in use.

Canon LP-E6 battery compatibility. The very common LP-E6 battery is enough to provide electricity for 1.5 hours. The battery level is displayed on the monitor when HDMI monitoring is enabled. The camera also has an LED display for battery level. In addition, a cable adapter allows you to supply 12V power to the camera.

Adjusting the settings. You can quickly adjust the camera settings using the buttons on the front panel, or alternatively with the remote controls.

Additional features. The base has three 1/4″-20 threaded holes for rigging, and one on top of the camera. Upgrades can be made via the USB 2 port.
