The Godox MA2 is a macro light that attaches to the camera’s hot shoe for close-up photography. Its two flexible arms direct light onto both sides of the subject, making it ideal for capturing the fine details of insects, fungi, flowers and products. See also our other for macro photography.

The direction of the light is visible even before the shutter is released

The LED modelling light and the flash are on the same axis, so you can see the direction of the light before taking the picture, making it easier to focus. The left and right light sources are controlled independently via A/B dual-channel control, allowing you to direct the light from one or both sides depending on the subject’s position and the angle of view. In FLASH mode, the MA2 supports S1/S2 photocell triggering in both manual and TTL set-ups using a pre-flash.

Additional flashes at the ends of the arms

The ends of the flexible arms feature hot-shoe mounts for compact flashes. These allow you to set up a two-flash configuration for shooting from low angles, at ground level and from the forest floor. The total load on each arm must not exceed 90 g.

Softer light and continuous LED light

The MA02-D diffuser panel supplied with the unit attaches to the magnetic base and is secured with push buttons. The panel can be tilted up or down and shaped by pressing the edges, and it reduces harsh reflections on glossy and textured surfaces. In LED mode, the light produces continuous light at 0–100 % and a colour temperature of 2800–6500 K for macro video or as a focus assist.
