Lastolite Vintage Collapsible 1.5 x 2.1m Smoke/Concrete
An excellent backdrop for a busy photographer on the move. Collapsible backdrops give great flexibility on set or in the studio.
The backdrop is large at the time of shooting, but it can be packed down to as little as a third of its original size for transport. Depending on the subject, the backdrop can be set up vertically or horizontally. Perhaps the finest feature of this backdrop, however, is that it is reversible. This means you can switch between the ‘Smoke’ and ‘Concrete’ colours quickly simply by turning the backdrop over.

A handy backdrop for portable studios – and why not for a fixed studio too, if you want to be able to change the backdrop quickly. According to Manfrotto’s website, the frame that holds the backdrop comes with a 10-year warranty, whilst the fabric has a 2-year warranty. By registering the product on Manfrotto’s website, the frame is covered by a lifetime warranty and the fabric by a 10-year warranty. This alone shows that the product is built to last and won’t need replacing every so often. The backdrop is easy to fold away, and whilst the carry bag supplied may not be entirely waterproof, it feels as though it will protect against a light drizzle so that it doesn’t get wet straight away.
It’s a proper product. You get what you pay for. The fabric lies flat and doesn’t crease. It can be a bit tricky to pack at first, so it’s worth watching the video to save yourself some hassle.
