NiSi Filter IRND Extreme Kit 100mm

The NiSi Long Exposure Kit 100mm is a set manufactured by NiSi Filters, comprising four 100x100mm IR neutral density filters: ND8 (3 stops), ND64 (6 stops), ND1000 (10 stops) and ND32000 (15 stops).

Neutral density (ND) filters evenly reduce the amount of light entering the lens. An ND filter enables the blurring of fast-moving subjects and improves image quality by allowing the use of a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed. ND filters are also useful when the contrast between highlights and shadows is too high to achieve a good exposure.

The ND8 3-stop filter is generally used for photographing waterfalls and capturing the flow of water at shutter speeds ranging from 0.5 seconds to 2 seconds.

The ND64 6-stop ND filter is generally used at sunset to create 1–2-minute exposures of soft water or clouds. A 6-stop filter is also excellent for capturing dynamic water scenes whilst retaining some texture before sunset.

The ND1000 10-stop filter is used during the day, outside of sunset, as bright ambient light requires much more ’light reduction’. With the right settings, these can extend exposure times to as long as 5 minutes during sunset.

The ND32000 15-stop filter can be used to achieve very long exposure times in the middle of the day; with this filter, exposure times of over 5 minutes can be achieved even in bright sunlight.

The NiSi 100mm ND Base Kit also includes a NiSi soft filter pouch, which can hold up to 4 x 100x100mm filters (or 4 round filters up to 95mm), a cleaning cloth and four replacement foam seals.

NiSi IRND filters do not affect the colour of the image; they reproduce true-to-life colours and are made from high-quality optical glass (not resin) with a nano-coating that ensures no detail is lost.

When using a neutral density filter, the camera is sensitive to infrared light, which introduces an unwanted red tint to images taken at small apertures. NiSi IRND filters feature an infrared-blocking coating that blocks infrared light passing through the lens, restoring natural, true-to-life colours.
