New water-resistant Ricoh WG-60 camera

Ricoh's new Ricoh WG-60 camera for underwater shooting is also resistant to cold and shock. The compact camera works in all weather conditions and is easy to take on the move. Cold, humidity and shocks are normal problems for any camera. The new Ricoh WG-60 is an exception to the rule. The ultra compact camera is designed to withstand all kinds of weather conditions and works well for underwater photography at depths of up to 14 metres. Its sturdy body is designed to withstand compression forces of almost 1000 Newtons (100 kiloponds) and a fall from 1.6 metres without damage*. The WG-60 is also suitable for shooting winter sports, withstanding temperatures as low as 10 degrees below zero.

The Ricoh WG-60 features a 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor that produces detailed, accurate and colour-rich images in all lighting conditions. In underwater mode, the camera enhances the red colours that would otherwise fade the deeper you dive. In addition, the camera automatically increases contrast to prevent underwater diffuse light from making the images curious.

The camera's five times zoom lens, equivalent to a 28-140mm lens on a full-frame camera, covers most possible shooting needs. In macro mode, the camera can take close-ups up to 1 cm from the subject. At the same time, the ring light around the lens can be exploited to capture accurate images of close subjects without the camera casting a shadow on the subject.

For night photography, the camera has a separate shooting mode that combines multiple exposures into one sharp, blur-free image. Normally, it would be almost impossible to take a vibration-free night shot without a tripod or other support. The camera's screen also has a special coating that eliminates annoying reflections from the screen, and the screen also automatically adjusts its illumination according to the surrounding conditions.
