Description
Sirui Anamorphic Lens 1.33x 35mm f/1.8
It’s finally here! Sirui has released the 1.33.x 35mm f/1.8 lens for the MFT mount, which lets you achieve a truly cinematic look. So now we’ve got 50mm glass A slightly wider lens to go with it. The Siruin 1.33x 35mm f/1.8 is affordable and extremely durable. Thanks to its aluminium body, it’s also lightweight and doesn’t add any extra weight to the front of the camera, unlike older lenses. There’s no longer any need to hire those shockingly heavy and expensive anamorphic lenses from rental shops. It’s almost impossible to achieve the anamorphic look with anything other than a lens designed specifically for that purpose. The easily recognisable horizontal flare gives your videos that classic sci-fi and action look. With the Siruin 1.33x 35mm f/1.8 lens, you can utilise a field of view in your shots that would normally go unused on the sensor. When shooting with a standard lens in the so-called ”letterbox” 2.4:1 aspect ratio, 40% of data is lost on an MFT sensor and 30% on APS-C sensors. When using an anamorphic lens, the entire surface area and all the pixels on the sensor are utilised, which also results in significantly less noise. In other words, when shooting video with a standard lens and the intended output is a 2.4:1 aspect ratio, the image must be cropped or black bars added during editing. At this stage, 30–40% of the available data remains unused. A clip shot with an anamorphic lens is ‘de-squeezed’, which removes noise from the image in the same way as when resizing a still image. The lens is currently only available with an MFT mount, but adapters are available for Nikon Z, Canon M and Sony E cameras. See the adapters here
