The SmallRig Night Eagle cage kit is designed for Nikon Z-series cameras, offering optimised camera handling, comprehensive protection and extensive expansion options. The stylish curved design, brass detailing, Nikon’s classic red accent and vintage-inspired leather finish give the cage a distinctive and professional look.

The kit includes a cage frame, an ergonomic top handle, HDMI and USB-C cable clips, and a detachable hot shoe adapter. The hot shoe adapter is fitted with an anti-rotation alignment pin and can be attached to the sides or top of the cage using 1/4″-20 mounting points – for example, to mount a microphone or video light.

The ergonomic top handle improves the camera’s handling when shooting from low angles, as well as its overall portability. The cable clip, meanwhile, ensures secure connections and prevents data cables from becoming twisted or accidentally coming loose.

The cage features an exceptionally wide range of mounting options: 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads, ARRI-style 3/8″-16 mounting holes, a NATO rail with HawkLock quick-release, a QD mount, shoulder strap attachment points and several 1/4″-20 mounting holes. These can be used to attach, for example, monitor arms, additional handles or tripods. The shoulder strap can be attached so that the camera hangs with the lens pointing downwards – a safe transport position that protects the lens.

The base of the cage features an Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release plate that fits directly onto Arca-system tripods as well as the DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, RS 4 Pro and RS 4 Mini gimbals. This allows you to use the camera on a tripod, handheld or on a gimbal quickly and without the need for separate adaptors. The cage kit also supports power distribution solutions, such as V-mount battery plates and batteries, for longer shooting sessions.
