A 3.5mm mic/line input allows connection to an external microphone or player, while a 3.5mm headphone/line out jack allows you to use your own favourite headphones or external speakers. An ultra-fast USB 2.0 port allows easy data transfer to Mac or Windows computers. The unit also acts as an audio interface if required, so you can record to your Zoom H1 directly from your DAW device.
Zoom H1n - the new airwaves of street journalism
Long gone are the days when Hunter S. Thompson gonzo journalists who coloured the journalism scene with their boozy adventures. In those days, even the tape recorder was overkill on some level, a good old-fashioned notepad and notes at least in the right direction would get the story together. With tape recorders, journalism became more accurate if not as delicious. However, the truth is closer to the budding journal when Zoom H1n is involved, nothing goes unheard and there are no mistakes. At least in an ideal situation. Hopefully the impartiality of the press will be assured in the future, and at least with digital audio recorders it should be easier if desired. The sound quality is stunning even at this Zoom selection with the cheapest agent, you'll have to add the retro emotional punch yourself if you want to sound more street cred. Especially if you use the optional windscreen. Zoom's H1n is so small that leaving it out of the gig would be deliberate, to say the least. If you use the optional lavalier microphone, you don't even need to leave the unit itself out of sight (although the Star Trek Trikoorder-looking vimpain does add its own unique icing).
