A quick release plate is a plate attached to the bottom of the camera, usually with a 1/4″ screw. It allows you to securely mount the camera to your tripod head. Quick-release plates vary in size, usually due to the way the tripod head is attached. However, the quick-release plates are quite compact. Be sure to check that the screw on the quick release fits your camera and that the quick release is compatible with your tripod head.
