The Laowa 90mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO is a powerful macro lens designed for mirrorless cameras with an angle of view of 27° for cinema cameras. This lens is very nearly identical to the Laowa 100mm 2x lens, with a focal length of 10mm and a few degrees difference in angle of view, this does not mean more than a few millimetres at the closest working distance. The main difference however is that the 100mm was originally designed for mirrorless bodies, so the mirrorless version of the 100mm has a mirror like empty tube at the end of the bayonet. This 90mm is therefore 3.5 centimetres shorter than the 100mm lens and 19 grams lighter than the best manual macro lens on the market, in a counter-intuitive design. Is this the new number one gun for macro photographers? Another major change is in the front element, which has been replaced by a 100mm practically mandatory filter to prevent dirt from entering the lens. The 90mm is equipped with a fixed front glass.

The lens has APO characteristics which means that chromatic aberrations are minimised in every sharpness/sharpness range. The lens is capable of focusing from 2X magnification to infinity so the glass can also be used as a Potrett glass if you are dexterous with your hands. Its macro design allows for higher magnification than normal 1:1 macro lenses.
