Tripods are the most common camera tripods. A tripod allows you to stabilize your camera even on uneven terrain. Every photographer should have at least some kind of tripod for their camera. So there are three legs on the tripod and you can usually change the length of each leg. Some tripods also have a centre leg, which gives a little extra length and adjustability. Quality tripods often last for decades. Tripods also require skirting, to which the camera is attached.

Tripods are usually manufactured either aluminium or carbon fibre. Both materials have their good and bad points. Aluminum tripods are cheaper and often more stable due to their weight. Carbon fibre is lighter and stiffer. However, both materials are durable and can withstand a variety of weather conditions. However, price is the most important factor in the differences between the materials.

There are big differences in size and load-bearing capacity between tripods. Larger tripods can carry larger camera assemblies, but their portability is poor. Today, compact and lightweight tripods are more popular. They can carry cameras of increasing weight for their size. Tripods are also usually easy to assemble and do not take up much space for transport. Some tripods also bend into special positions, allowing for creative angles.
