Fujifilm Fujinon XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR - The airs of a new era

Fujifilm Fujino's XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR replaces Fuji's first X lens with the perfection of the X. The lens produces a so-called normal lens angle of view (50mm in cinema size), particularly suitable for street photography or portraits, for example. This replaces one of Fuji's most controversial lenses. The old one was far from technical perfection but produced a very pleasing image under perfect conditions. Now the hipster feel has been slightly curtailed and replaced by a more assured image quality. The excellent f/1.4 aperture works brilliantly for the slightly smaller APS-C sensor and offers beautiful bokeh reproduction and depth of field. The redesigned autofocus is shockingly fast (o.04 seconds) and weather protection gives a professional finish.

The optical formula is bolded to 15 elements in 10 groups, and within that there are two aspherical elements, and 3 (three!!) ED elements. All of this touches optical perfection in the final result. The Super EBC coatings, together with the special elements, create a contrasty and colour-saturated image without chromatic aberrations or haze.

The powerful and accurate linear autofocus motor will not let you down. Minimal focus breathing and precise manual focus make this the ideal glass for video as well. The closest focusing distance of 30cm measured from the sensor produces a magnification of 0.15X. The dimmer blades, of which there are nine, are rounded.

The softening of the background is quite pleasing from this trap.

The frame is entirely metal.
