The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is a wider zoom for the APS-C EF-S bayonet, which is equivalent to the 16-35.2mm focal length of cinema glass. It's a versatile lens in a compact package that can be used for a variety of purposes. The flexible zoom range consists of a sophisticated optical formula with 1 Super-UD element, 3 aspherical elements, and a Super Spectra coating that reduces reflection and haze. Image quality is excellent. The lens placement is exemplary and the surfaces are coated to reduce reflections and haze. Colour contrasts are good and colours are neutral.

The USM (Ultrasonic Ring Motor) focuses really quickly and smoothly and quite silently, with continuous manual override. It's also great for video. If you really want to do some serious tweaking then manual focus is your friend.
