Celestron CPC GPS XLT 1100 Telescope
The Celestron CPC GPS XLT 1100 is a 279 mm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on a computer-controlled, two-arm alt-azimuth mount. The built-in GPS and SkyAlign alignment system make it quick to set up, and the large aperture is sufficient for precise observation of the planets, the Moon and deep-sky objects. See also our other astronomical telescopes in our range.
GPS and alignment using three bright landmarks
The built-in GPS receiver retrieves the date, time and precise location from satellites, so there is no need to enter this information manually. Alignment is carried out by pointing the hand controller at any three bright celestial objects; you do not need to know the names of the stars: the Moon or bright planets will also do. The NexStar software then models the entire sky above the horizon.
Extensive property database and search function
The database contains over 40,000 objects, including the Messier and Caldwell catalogues, as well as NGC galaxies, nebulae and planets. You can use the filter criteria to exclude, for example, objects obscured by trees or mountains. The ‘Identify’ function tells you what the telescope is pointing at and displays the nearest objects, which you can navigate to using the GoTo function. Solar Sys Align enables alignment with the Sun or the Moon for daytime observation.
Hand-finished optics
The optical systems are aligned and finished by hand at Celestron’s factory in Torrance, California. StarBright XLT coatings enhance the performance of the optics, and the included NexRemote software, complete with an RS-232 cable, enables the telescope to be controlled from a computer.
Main features
- The built-in GPS automatically sets the time, date and location.
- SkyAlign alignment can be carried out using any three bright celestial objects.
- The database contains 40,000 entries, over 100 user-defined entries and detailed information on over 200 entries.
- A quiet, redesigned drive mechanism with large drive wheels and a quick-release clutch.
- The heavy-duty tripod has 2-inch steel legs and an accessory plate, and the tube can be attached even in the dark.
- A permanent PEC, as well as an additional port for, for example, an autoguider and a GPS accessory.
- The software for the hand-held controller and the motor units is updated via the internet.
