Celestron CPC GPS XLT 800 Telescope
The Celestron CPC GPS XLT 800 is a 203 mm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope on a computer-controlled two-arm fork mount. It is ideal for amateur astronomers who wish to observe the planets, the Moon and deep-sky objects without the need for time-consuming manual alignment. See also our other astronomical telescopes in our range.
GPS and SkyAlign take care of the alignment
The built-in GPS receiver retrieves the date, time and exact location from satellites, so there is no need to enter them manually. To align the telescope, simply point the tube using the hand control at three bright celestial objects. You don’t need to know the names of the stars, as the Moon or a bright planet will also do. With the Solar Sys Align function, you can align the telescope with the Sun or the Moon, allowing you to observe planets and bright stars even during the day.
Extensive database and identification function
The handheld controller’s database contains over 40,000 objects, including the Messier and Caldwell catalogues, NGC galaxies, nebulae and planets. You can use filter limits to hide objects that are obscured by your own horizon, such as trees or mountains. The ‘Identify’ function tells you what you’re looking at and shows the nearest objects to which the telescope can move automatically.
Hand-finished optics
The optics are individually tailored and hand-finished at Celestron’s facilities in Torrance, California. StarBright XLT coatings enhance the light transmission of the optics.
Main features
- The built-in GPS automatically sets the time and location before alignment.
- SkyAlign alignment can be carried out using any three bright celestial objects.
- The NexStar control system’s database contains 40,000 objects, over 100 user-defined locations and extended data on over 200 objects.
- The redesigned operating mechanism runs quietly and features large drive gears and a quick-release clutch.
- The NexRemote software and an RS-232 cable enable the telescope to be controlled from a computer.
- For example, you can connect an autoguider to the auxiliary port, and the hand controller software can be updated via the internet.
