Designed for full cell cameras

The lens is designed for Sony's full-frame cameras, and is an exceptionally good choice for a general-purpose lens thanks to its reasonably wide focal length. This is a classic wide-angle lens that works well for general, street and family photography alike. The lens is also suitable for crop-sensor cameras.

The lens is fast enough to shoot without problems even in dim light or to make the subject stand out against even a blurred background. The closest focusing distance is just 30 cm, allowing it to capture details and tightly framed portraits with great versatility.

Optical structure

The manufacturing has focused on the design of the optical structure to produce maximum image quality. The lens features 11 lens elements in 9 groups. Thanks to two aspherical lenses, distortion is avoided, thus guaranteeing sharpness across the entire image area. Chromatic aberration is avoided with two HR (High Refractive) elements. The nine-bladed, almost circular aperture speaks of a skilful optical structure.
