Description
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art - the long awaited native Sony E Art
Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art is pretty basic shit when it comes to focal lengths, but this particular model has been waited an interminable amount of time for the Sony E bayonet, especially since the disappointment was so huge when Sigma tried to fill the gap with integral adapter/lens combo. So this is well deserved. This is a Sony proprietary GM in glass compared to a slightly larger, moderately wide-angle obiska that is easy to take with you and therefore suitable for street photography, for example. The so-called standard focal length is convenient for many subjects such as landscape, street or reportage photography. The maximum aperture of f/1.4 is very good in low light situations. The optical formula consists of two SLD Special-Low Dispersion elements and one FLD Low Dispersion element which are in your best interest to help you achieve good colour fidelity and sharpness. The Super Multi-Layer coating is of course there to eliminate reflections.
Focusing is implemented with stepper motors for fast and quiet AF performance, suitable for both light and video modes. The lens also features a manual aperture ring and an all-metal body with programmable AFL button.
The dimmer is equipped with nine rounded leaves that make the background softening smooth. All these refinements are in a weatherproof environment.
Part of the acclaimed Art series in Sigma's Global Vision range, this lens aims for performance with a graceful design, it's deft to handle with good optical sorting ability. The lens will of course also work on APS-C sensor cameras although it is designed for cinema size cameras, with a focal length equivalent to 52.5mm cinema glass on these smaller cameras.
The aperture bracket in position A allows the aperture to be adjusted from the body. The bayonet is bronze to make the connection tight and sturdy. Rubber gasket keeps out dust and moisture.
The optical formula of the lens consists of 15 elements in 11 groups, including the aforementioned FLD low-dispersion element, ELD extra-low dispersion element, two SLD special-low dispersion elements, and two aspherical elements.
The Super Multi-Layer coating eliminates reflections and haze, so the image is contrasty and sharp.
