An inexpensive but quality-feeling ”no frills” flash shoe that allowed me to attach the microphone to the Smallrig's side handle and to the side enough to keep the video monitor out of the way.
A good shoe for attaching accessories. The product is a cold shoe, so it is not even meant to attach lightning bolts. Cold shoe not for use in the field
You can attach it to the Smallrig frame with a centre screw, but there is no place for small screws in the frame. But it still works in my use.
The product completely ignores the spring-loaded spikes at the bottom of the flash units. In order for the spikes to push in nicely when the flash is inserted, there must be a bevel on the edge of the flash shoe. The flash will go in without the bevel (which is what this coldshoe lacks), but you need force. And to release the flash, you need the same force. Then you don't even want to get a good grip on it. Personally, I needed a screwdriver and a wooden spoon for this release. It was a small miracle that the flash remained in working order.
So now I have to file the edges of the things I've bought. Which should have been done at the manufacturing stage. It's a shame.
