The Sony FE PZ 16-35mm f/4 G is designed for content creators. Optimised for video. For video, the glass has key features such as Power Zoom, unobtrusive focus breathing, multi-functional focus control and a well-balanced design which is essential when the device is mounted on a gimbal or drone.

Power zoom mechanism uses four linear XD motors for precise, fast and quiet zooming. The built-in zoom and focus design keeps the lens length the same in use. The aperture can be "de-clicked" for silent and smooth use of the iris during shooting.

Smooth motion optics (SMO) reduces focus breathing and keeps the focus selected even if you change the focus point. The lens is also compatible with the Breathing Compensation function on cameras with it.

The wide-angle zoom design covers focal lengths from ultra-wide end to standard (16-35mm) and the obiska keeps the aperture at f/4 across the board when needed. Two Advanced Aspherical (AA) elements and one aspherical element keep sharpness high and reduce distortion. Super ED and ED elements increase brightness and colour accuracy by reducing chromatic aberrations. A single ED Aspherical element does the job for amazing image quality.

The lens has a seven-bladed dimmer for a smooth background softening.

The closest focusing distance is about 28 centimetres at 16mm and 24 centimetres at 35mm, and the maximum magnification is 0.23 times.

Being a G glass, priority has been given to compact size and lightweight construction, while still maintaining quite good image quality, the lens is also weatherproof and has a very intuitive design that makes it easy to use. It is a lens that is easily adaptable to many situations.Dust and moisture protection includes a fluorine coating on the front element that repels oil and water.
