Sony introduces a new and powerful creative tool for photographers and videographers - the first full-frame zoom lens with sensor for α-series E-type cameras. Designed and developed to exacting standards, the FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS (SELP28135G) lens offers videographers and filmmakers impressive expressive power. The lens is an ideal match for a 35mm full-frame sensor α7S camera, for example, capturing every detail in perfect fidelity, whether shooting 4K video, Full HD or stills. The standard maximum F4 aperture gives video and still photographers a beautiful depth of field and stable shutter speed control across the zoom range from wide angle to long distance. The needs of professional videographers are catered for with Sony's ”Smooth Motion Optics” design principles. With the aim of achieving the best possible image quality when shooting with large-format cameras, advanced optical and technical design emphasises three key needs of videographers: breathing when focusing, shifting focus when zooming and optical axis movement when zooming. In addition, aspherical lens elements prevent unwanted reflections while advanced multi-coating technology increases contrast and eliminates glare even in highly backlit situations. The SELP28135G lens owes much to the comfort and ergonomics of Sony's professional cameras, designed for film and television photographers. Three separate control rings provide separate controls for focus, zoom and aperture (iris), together with optimum torque for a convincingly responsive, professional feel. Even the grooves in the control ring are carefully designed for a comfortable, non-slip grip. Thanks to the SSM motor, used for the first time on film, the zoom is exceptionally smooth and quiet - a must-have feature for professional film production. The zoom speed can be finely controlled over a wide range. Focus noise is also made as quiet as possible by reducing the weight of the focusing element group and using a responsive double linear motor. As a fine adjustment, the focus setting can be effortlessly switched from auto to manual by simply rotating the focus ring, without having to fumble to find the focus settings in the middle of a shot. High-quality optical performance and functionality is complemented by dust and moisture-proof construction, making the lens ideal for outdoor photography. For extra versatility, the built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilizer provides extra stability when shooting handheld. Despite the lens” heavy series features, the compact dimensions and lightweight design of the lens are very welcome in shooting situations where maximum mobility is required.
