Celestron StarSense Explorer LT127AZ Telescope
The StarSense Explorer LT127AZ is a manual telescope designed for beginners, which uses a smartphone to analyse the night sky and indicates in real time where the telescope is pointing. The app lists the objects currently visible and guides you in the right direction with arrows, so you can start observing without the need for star charts or a motorised mount. Take a look at our other products too astronomical telescopes.
Plug your phone into the dock and let the observations begin
Place the phone in the StarSense dock; it takes about two minutes to align it with the telescope’s optics. Select an object from the app’s list and move the telescope according to the arrows on the screen. When the object is within the eyepiece’s field of view, the crosshairs turn green.
Positioning based on constellations, not just sensors
The patented StarSense Sky Recognition technology recognises constellations in the sky and compares them with the app’s database. The Lost in Space algorithm (LISA) works on the same principle as satellite navigation, so it is more accurate than apps based solely on gyroscopes and accelerometers.
From the city sky to dark observation sites
Even in a city with light pollution, you can use a telescope to spot, for example, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula and binary stars. In a darker location, more objects become visible, and thanks to its total weight of 5.17 kg, you can take the kit with you on an outing.
Main features
- The StarSense Explorer app displays visible objects and guides the telescope towards them using arrows.
- The reticle, which turns green, indicates when the target is in the eyepiece.
- Compatible with the iPhone 6 and later models, as well as most Android 7.1.2+ phones manufactured in 2016 or later.
- The slow-motion control on the altazimuth mount allows you to fine-tune the height and track objects as they move across the sky.
- Two eyepieces and a 2x Barlow lens provide a range of magnification options.
- With the StarPointer red-dot sight, you can align the barrel even during the day or without using the app.
- A fully height-adjustable stand with a accessory mount for eyepieces.
