FUJIFILM's longest fixed focal length lens, the XF 500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR brings distant subjects such as birds, sports and other wildlife within your reach, providing sharp, continuous focus for subject separation and background blur effects. This full-cell equivalent 762mm lens achieves this image quality while keeping size and weight to a minimum, helping the 5.5 aperture optical image stabilizer to deliver results that match the resolution of the 40.2 MP X-series cells.

Lens construction
Weighing less than three kilos and measuring 25.65 cm in length, the lens is optimised for hand-held shooting. The 5.5 aperture optical image stabilizer also helps hand-held shooting by compensating for camera shake. For situations where more stability is needed, the tripod collar foot is Arca-Swiss compatible with tripods and monopods.

The optical design consists of five super-low dispersion elements and two super-low dispersion elements, which help reduce distortion and colour aberrations typically found in lenses of this length. A 21-element, 14-group optical design delivers the sharpness and clarity needed when shooting with 40.2 MP X-series cells, while a rounded, 9-blade dimmer produces a smooth, rounded bokeh that is further enhanced by the spatial compression characteristic of super telephoto lenses.

Linear motor autofocus
The linear motor autofocus system delivers fast, accurate and virtually silent performance, further enhanced by the target detection algorithms of the X-Series cameras. In addition, the lens features presets designed to minimise focusing times, ideal for stopping down fast-moving subjects.

Other points worth noting
The lens is fully compatible with the optional 1.4x and 2x telephoto zoom lens, which further increase the range to 700 mm and 1000 mm without compromising image quality.
The lens body has extensive weather protection against dust and moisture, so you can use it in bad weather without worry when using it with the weatherproof X-series camera body.
