Fujino's XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD lens features a unique optical design, a prime proprietary perspective, and a fast f/1.2 maximum aperture to achieve a narrow depth of field. Fuji's second 56mm f/1.2 from glass Notably, this 85mm cinema-quality glass has an adjustable apodization filter built in to produce an aesthetically pleasing blur-area quality well suited to selective depth-of-field effect applications.

Optical design

The optical design consists of 11 elements in eight groups and includes an aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements, and 3 fixed elements. Together, these elements achieve a particularly low level of chromatic aberrations, distortions and chromatic aberrations over the entire aperture scale. In addition, the HT-EBC multi-plane coating keeps surface reflections, haze and overall reflections in check. The short telephoto glass is equivalent to 85mm glass in cinema size and is therefore ideal for use with a potrette. And of course for other purposes where a slightly longer than normal perspective is needed and background compression is appropriate. The bright f/1.2 maximum aperture is well suited for low light and depth of field precision shots. The APD marking indicates a built-in apodization filter for background softening. It produces razor-sharp subjects with a creamy soft background. The APD effect is further accentuated by seven rounded aperture blades that give the area of opacity a rounded highlight.

Because the APD filter works best on large thumbs, a three-step ND filter is built into the lens to prevent the amount of light from overflowing. The two aperture value markings show how the depth of field and light actually appears. The red numbers indicate the aperture value how it affects the depth of field and the white numbers show the correct aperture value.
