Description
Nikon Z5 body + Nikkor Z 24-200mm - Great starter kit
The Nikon Z5 is Nikon's basic camera for the mirrorless Z-bayonet system. The Z5 is in many ways very similar to the Nikon Z6. The same features are the body stabilizer, autofocus system, and design outline. The Z5 is equipped with a 24 megapixel FX (cinema size) format CMOS sensor, NOT a similar BSI model as the Z6, but at least with the same Expeed 6 processor. The Z5 body stabilizer can at best reduce movement by five apertures.
This package includes the Nikkor Z 24-200mm lens, which is an excellent choice for general photography. It covers all the most common focal lengths in a single lens with a flick of the wrist.
The body of the Nikon Z5, unlike its big brother, is made of polycarbonate (the Z6 has a magnesium alloy body). Of course, moisture and dust protection is still in place. The top surface has been simplified, with the Z6/Z7's status display replaced by a traditional Mode switch. In terms of weight, the bodies are the same, at 675 grams.
Details of the frame
The Z5 shares the same viewfinder as its sibling, a 3.69 million dot OLED, and a 3.2" touchscreen. The resolution of the screen has been slightly dropped but the memory card side is a more consumer-friendly solution. Two UHS-II speed card slots is quite a good solution. The camera uses the new EN-EL15C battery, but the camera is backwards compatible with older EN-EL15 models. The Z5 can use the same battery grip as the Z6 and Z7. The camera can be charged via USB, and can also be used with USB power.
Video
The Nikon Z5 is not the main star on the video side. However, it can record 4K/30p video, albeit with 1.7x crop. 1080 video uses the entire sensor. The camera doesn't have any slow motion video capabilities. However, there are both mic and headphone connections.
NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4 - 6.3 VR
The NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4 - 6.3 VR is a one-lens solution for every situation. 8.3x zoom range and even surprisingly good draw for a general purpose lens make this a desirable Z-series. No expense has been spared in the optical design with a number of special elements, including ARNEA and Nano coatings, producing a sharp and natural image with good contrast. The VR viewfinder makes hand-held shooting up to 5 apertures easier. A two-stage motor provides fast autofocus (with manual override) for both stills and video.
The body has a programmable control ring, in the style of the z-series, which allows you to save various camera and exposure settings.
