Trade-in – how to swap your old camera for a new one

With our trade-in scheme, you can swap your old camera, lens or other photography equipment for a new or second-hand item. The value of your old equipment is deducted directly from the purchase price, and you simply pay the difference. You can arrange a trade-in at our shop in Kouvola or by post from anywhere in Finland.

In a nutshell: this is how a swap deal works

• Better price: When trading in your old device, you’ll usually get a price that’s around 15 % higher than if you were to sell it on its own.
• You only pay the difference: The trade-in credit is deducted directly from the price of the new or second-hand product.
• By post from anywhere in Finland: Please send the device to us using our Matkahuolto contract number. The postage cost for the exchange is €15.
• All payment methods: The deposit can also be paid in instalments using finance from Avardan or Resurs Bank.
• We buy everything to do with photography: cameras, lenses, drones, flashes and accessories.

Step-by-step guide to trading by post

1. Get in touch and let us know what you’re replacing

Please email us at [email protected] or use the form on the product page. Email is the most recommended method, as this ensures that both parties have a written record of the agreement.

• Please tell us which product you’re interested in. As well as new products, you can choose used exchange units.
• Please specify exactly which devices you are offering in exchange, including the model numbers.
• Please also state the shutter speed for the cameras, as this affects the assessment. See the instructions: How to check the camera’s shutter speed. If you can’t get a reading, we’ll still give you an estimate.
• Please check that the device’s accessories are all present, such as the battery, charger and protective covers, and let us know if anything is missing. Missing accessories can often be replaced from our stock, but this may affect your refund.

The credit amount we have quoted is provisional; the exact amount will be confirmed once we have inspected the equipment.

2. Send the equipment to us

• Please use our Matkahuolto contract number and write it on the parcel. The postage for exchanges is €15.
• Please include your contact details in the parcel.
• Pack the equipment carefully and check that all the agreed accessories are included.

3. We will inspect the equipment and send you an invoice

We will inspect and test the equipment we have received and contact you by email. If everything is as agreed, we will send you an invoice for the interim payment. 4. Pay the difference and we’ll send you a new device

We will dispatch the new product as soon as we have received payment of the balance. You will receive a separate message and a tracking number once the parcel is on its way.

In-store exchanges are even quicker. Bring your old device with you, and we’ll assess it on the spot and deduct the credit directly from your purchase. At the same time, you can try out the new camera or lens before deciding whether to buy.
