Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary - Potrett lens for body cameras
The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is Sigma's kick-back lens for L-mount cameras with APS-C size sensors... An affordable and highly anticipated option for both systems, Sigma's excellent image quality combined with a quiet and fast focusing motor. Despite the good light gathering power, the lens has a very compact size and is weather and dust resistant. The lens weighs just 280g. Perfectly matched Sigman 16mm F1.4 and 30mm F1.4 with lenses that have been very popular.
The optical design and autofocus stepper motor ensure smooth and quiet focusing, which is also ideal for video shooting. This lens is also compatible with the Nikon Z-mount's phase focus autofocus, which allows the autofocus to follow the subject with great precision. The lens has a rigid construction, especially thanks to the brass bayonet.

I’m a beginner amateur photographer myself, and I bought this as a portrait lens for my compact camera. It renders images well and produces sharp photos. Sometimes I even need to soften the image artificially, but it’s good that the lens itself doesn’t limit the images. The lens feels really solid in the hand and has plenty of glass; perhaps it’s a tad too heavy if you had to carry it around all day, for example when doing street photography. But I’d definitely recommend it if you’re interested in portrait photography. 🙂 I had to deduct one star from my rating because it doesn’t have image stabilisation; although I usually use a tripod for portrait shots, sometimes I have to shoot handheld, and my own Z50 doesn’t have in-body image stabilisation.
