The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 DI III VXD - for the Sony E mount is a lens with a multi-purpose zoom range that is fast in its exposure, compact in its profile and quite unique in terms of its idea of a traditional telephoto zoom focal length. The lens starts from a relatively wide short telephoto range at 70mm, and climbs into the medium telephoto section up to 180mm. This ”short” solution is made to keep the lens compact and lightweight. However, the aperture is f/2.8 all the way, which is well suited when working with prevailing light or when you want to limit the depth of field.

The sophisticated optical formula includes a series of low dispersion lenses and aspherical elements to correct for various optical disturbances, and the BBAR-G2 coating helps reduce reflections and haze. This ensures excellent contrast and colour accuracy. In addition, a floating element system ensures that image quality is consistent across the entire focus range from 27 centimetres to infinity.

The autofocus is handled by a pair of linear VXD motor units, which are incredibly fast, accurate and quiet. You can then override the focus manually. Moisture protection allows you to use the lens in more demanding conditions. The fluorine-coated front element protects against fingerprints and smudges.
