How barter works

Bartering can be done entirely by post and this is how most of our transactions are done. So let's look at how to make your barter transaction as smooth as possible by post.

Our aim is to make the exchange of camera equipment as smooth as possible. The majority of our exchanges are done by post, and below is an explanation of how to make the process as hassle-free as possible by post.

1. Contact us

Initially, it is advisable to contact each other by e-mail so that both parties have a written agreement. In your message, state exactly what equipment you are offering, including detailed model specifications. For cameras, it is a good idea to specify the shuttercount, as this may affect the estimate. The quoted refund price is indicative and the exact amount will be confirmed after checking the equipment.

Also check that you have all the supplies you need and report any shortcomings. Missing supplies can often be replaced from our own stock, but may affect the amount of the refund.

  • Contact us by email or using the form on the product card ([email protected])
  • Indicate which product you would be interested in, you will find all used replacement equipment here
  • Please indicate exactly what equipment you are offering in exchange (including shuttercount for cameras, if you do not get this information the estimate will not be as accurate, but we can still give you an estimate)
  • Check if you can find the mandatory accessories for your equipment and let us know if something is missing

2. Dispatch of replacement equipment

We recommend using the Matkahuolto contract number for your shipment, as it is the simplest and often the cheapest way. Write the contract number on the package and include your contact details. This way, your parcel will also be carried to its destination by us and picking it up from different pick-up points will not slow down the process.

Pack your equipment carefully and make sure you have all the necessary accessories.

  • As a rule, use the Matkahuolto contract number
  • Put the sender's details inside the package
  • Pack your equipment and check that you have the necessary accessories

3. Checking and landing equipment

Incoming equipment is checked and tested. We will then contact you by email. If everything is as agreed, we will send you an invoice for the interim payment by email. If the equipment is defective, we will contact you before sending the invoice and agree on the next steps.

You can also pay your bill by instalments, such as With funding from the Resurs Bank.

4. Payment and dispatch of the interim payment

New products will be sent as soon as the interim payment is shown to us. We will send a separate message with tracking number when the products are on their way.
