DJI is the world’s most popular drone manufacturer, and its range includes drones to suit every need: from palm-launched selfie drones to professional filming drones. You can also find all DJI products at From the DJI brand page.
| Drone | To whom | Strengths |
|---|---|---|
| DJI Neo 2 | My first drone, selfies and social media videos | The most affordable option; fired from the palm of your hand; also works without a controller |
| DJI Flip | Tourists and vloggers | Foldable propeller guards; lightweight and safe to fly near people |
| DJI Mini 5 Pro | A hobbyist looking for the best image quality in a compact body | Large sensor, obstacle detection, long flight time |
| DJI Air 3S | A keen amateur photographer and property photographer | Two cameras (wide-angle and telephoto), good low-light performance |
| DJI Mavic 4 Pro | Professional | A Hasselblad camera, three lenses, the best image quality |
| DJI Avata 2 and Avata 360 | Adventure flights and promotional videos | FPV flying through the goggles; Avata 360 captures 360° video |
DJI Neo 2 It’s the easiest and most affordable way to get started. It’s launched from the palm of your hand and automatically follows the photographer, so you can film a selfie video without a controller. With a controller, you can also fly the Neo 2 just like a normal drone.
DJI Flip It’s slightly larger and offers better image quality. Its propeller guards fold into the body, making it compact to carry and safe to fly near people. The Flip is well suited to travel and vlogging. We’ll go into more detail about the differences in our comparison DJI Neo 2 vs. DJI Flip.

DJI Mini 5 Pro is the most popular choice for hobbyists. It has a large sensor, which makes it good even in low light, and obstacle detection that works in all directions. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth upgrading from the older Mini 4 Pro to the new model, read our comparison DJI Mini 5 Pro vs. Mini 4 Pro.
DJI Air 3S It is larger and more wind-resistant. Thanks to its two cameras, it is possible to capture both wide-angle and telephoto shots during the same flight, which is useful, for example, in property and landscape photography.
DJI Mavic 4 Pro is DJI’s flagship consumer model. Thanks to its Hasselblad main camera and two telephoto cameras, it is the choice of professionals when image quality is paramount.

An FPV drone is flown using video goggles, allowing the pilot to see the view as if they were sitting inside the drone themselves. DJI Avata 2 It has been designed for fast-paced action videos and can be controlled using hand movements with the Motion controller. DJI Avata 360 records 360° video, allowing you to choose the viewing angle afterwards.

It’s worth it for most people. The Fly More Combo pack usually includes three batteries, a charging station and a carry case, and it works out significantly cheaper than buying the batteries separately. The flight time of a single battery is rarely enough for a proper photography trip.
In Finland, anyone flying a drone fitted with a camera must register as an operator with Traficom, even if the drone weighs less than 250 g. Flying drones heavier than this also requires passing Traficom’s online test. The maximum flight altitude is limited to 120 metres, and flying over crowds of people is prohibited. Read the rules in plain language in the article Finnish drone legislation in plain language.
As well as drones, DJI manufactures Osmo Action action cameras, Osmo Pocket pocket cameras and Osmo Mobile phone gimbals, as well as the RS series of gimbals for system cameras. We compare the action cameras in this article the best action camera for enthusiasts.
You’ll find all the drones in the department DJI drones.
The DJI Neo 2 is the easiest to use and most affordable, whilst the DJI Flip is the best choice if you want better image quality and secure propeller guards. If image quality is your top priority, start with the DJI Mini 5 Pro. All of them feature automatic safety functions, such as returning to the take-off point.
For hobbyists, the DJI Mini 5 Pro, as it combines a large sensor with a lightweight design. For professional use, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, which offers the best image quality of any drone.
No online test is required, but anyone flying a drone fitted with a camera must register with Traficom as an operator.
The smallest drones fly for around 15–20 minutes, whilst models in the Mini, Air and Mavic series fly for around 30–50 minutes per battery charge. Freezing temperatures and wind reduce flight time, so it’s a good idea to take spare batteries with you.
