The Rode VideoMic Go II is an updated and brilliant new addition to the popular VideoMic range. Basically, it's a smaller and simplified version of the VideoMic NTG. In other words, the Rode VideoMic Go II is an ultra-compact shotgun microphone with good improvements to the body, shockmount, and lead, and as a result is itself already quite drastically different from the old VideoMic Go. The compact and lightweight microphone records sounds directionally and clearly, leaving out background noise. An integrated Rycote Lyre body-mounted sound attenuator isolates the microphone from shock and vibration that might otherwise interfere with recording. The VideoMic Go II does not contain complex switches and controls. The microphone is powered directly from the camera's own 3.5mm microphone socket and does not require batteries to operate. The device provides video content producers, run-and-gun reporters, voiceover artists and podcasters with the sound quality of the acclaimed NTG mics in a handy package that works with cameras, mobile devices and USB-compatible computers.

Use the VideoMic GO II microphone as a traditional reverb microphone on your smartphone as a digital microphone by connecting it to your smart device with separate wires. In both configurations, it produces a noise-free sound that is well separated from external vibrations. When used as a USB microphone, the 3.5mm plug-in connector acts as a headphone output from which you can monitor live audio. The mic works either with plug-in power or USB power.

Compared to its old predecessor, basically everything has been redesigned, design elements have been taken from the VideoMic NTG, the body has been improved. Vibration damping is softer than before. The frame of the Miki has been implemented with acoustic holes, as opposed to the linear holes usually found in shotgun mics. Its low-noise electronics, and sensitive concave produce a detailed but clean sound. The pattern is a supercardioid polar that concentrates the sound in front and dampens sounds coming from the front and rear.

The TRS connector is removable and the included cable is a quick way to connect the microphone to the camera. The cable is in dual mono configuration so that both left and right channels receive identical signals. The cable is short and flat making it easy to install neatly.
