33MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor

The combination of a 33MP backlit Exmor R sensor and BIONZ XR processor enables the FX2 to capture vivid 4K video with natural tones, realistic colours and low noise in both full-frame and Super 35 modes, offering wide lens compatibility without compromising resolution.

In full-cell mode, the FX2 offers 7K oversampling at full pixel count for exceptional sharpness and realism. Designed to cope with a wide range of lighting conditions, the FX2 has a dynamic range of over 15 apertures, an ISO range of up to 204800, and an upgraded dual-base ISO technology that enables video shooting in S-log3 mode at 800 or 4000 ISO.

DCI 4K video recording

For the best post-processing capabilities, FX2 captures DCI 4K video internally with 10-bit 4:2:2 aspect ratio or externally with 16-bit raw video via HDMI. You can record video in XAVS S, S-I and HS recording formats with Long GOP, All-Intra, H.264 and H.265 codecs.

Colour and tone reproduction can be fine-tuned using up to 16 user-generated LUTs or S-Cinematone mode, which allows image integration with VENICE, FX9, FX6, FX3 and other camera sources. The FX2 has an intuitive variable FPS setting function for creating time-lapse and slow-motion video, and can display 1.3 and 2.0x anamorphic images, all in-camera.

Hybrid photo recording

The FX2 brings the versatility of a hybrid camera to the Cinema Line series, improving photo recording and adding features such as Log Shooting and the use of user-generated LUTs.

AI object identification

The FX2's AI processor offers several improvements in autofocus, auto-composition and stabilisation with the help of artificial intelligence. A processor that analyses colour, texture and depth of field maintains precise focus with real-time object recognition, identifying people, animals and vehicles. Eye detection of people and animals is improved in the 30% compared to the FX3 and FX30, making the FX2 ideal for fast-paced shooting situations such as wildlife and sporting events. This advanced tracking capability also enables precise auto compositing, adjusting the recorded composition to keep the subject in the centre of the frame.

Comprehensive consolidation

By combining the camera's on-board optical image stabilizer with the power of the AI processor and the metadata of the E-mount lens for post-production, the FX2 offers several ways to eliminate camera shake when shooting handheld.

Improved usability

Following in the footsteps of high-end CineAlta cameras like the VENICE, the FX2 allows easy adjustment of FPS, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, layout and white balance in movie mode.The 3″ foldable touchscreen LCD offers intuitive menu navigation and features a tilting design and 1.03m-point resolution.

The FX2 also has a built-in 3.68m-point OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.7x maximum magnification. Tiltable from 0 to 90°, the EVF has a pivoting rubber eyecup and a 33mm eye-point for accurate image composition in extreme lighting conditions.

Ergonomic design

Made from a lightweight, durable magnesium alloy, the FX2 features an upgraded heat dissipation system and a built-in cooling fan for uninterrupted 4K60 recording. The upgraded grip holds a single 16.4Wh NP-FZ100 battery and features one of the camera's five 1/4″-20 female threads-three for accessories and two for mounting plates.

Several functions have their own controls, including the power switch, record button, movie/still switch, zoom lever, playback button and control knobs, while seven other buttons serve user-defined functions.
