Tamron has set a very competitive price for the glass, with Sony's equivalent ( Fujinon XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR ) costs more and the aperture only reaches f/4 . The f/2.8 aperture is much more powerful and produces a much creamier bokeh effect than f/4 and is therefore also a nice choice for portraits. The lens is equipped with Tamron's Vibration Compensation ( VC ) image stabilizer which compensates for vibration and improves stability, especially in video shooting. The image stabilisation of this lens is specially optimised for videographers with AI technology, this combined with the fast RXD stepper motor and Hybrid AF and Eye AF support produces really beautiful and smooth video, even with autofocus.
