On the second-hand market, you can often get a slightly better body for the same budget than you would for a new one. A mirrorless APS-C camera from a few years ago is a good choice for your first system camera, and you can get a full-frame camera second-hand for significantly less than a new one. Also consider the lenses: when you choose a system, the lenses come with you when you change cameras. You’ll find tips on choosing a model in our guide the best camera for a beginner.
Most of our second-hand cameras come to us directly from photographers through our trade-in scheme. You can use your old camera as a credit towards the price of a new or second-hand purchase, or sell it to us. Find out how it works: sell or swap your camera.

It depends on the model. The shutters on amateur cameras are generally rated for around 100,000–200,000 shots, whilst those on professional cameras are rated for significantly more. Reaching less than half of the rated number is a good result. In mirrorless cameras, the electronic shutter causes no wear to the mechanical shutter at all.
You can. Please do come and visit our shop in Kouvola, where you can try out the camera and ask for advice before deciding whether to buy it.
