System camera is a camera with interchangeable lenses, allowing you to choose the right lens for the subject you’re photographing. This means it grows with the photographer: you can later add a wide-angle, telephoto or fast portrait lens to the same body. In our range, you’ll find mirrorless system cameras from brands such as Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, OM System and Panasonic. If you’re choosing your first camera: read our guide to find out which is the best a system camera for beginners.

The camera brand determines which lenses are compatible with it. There is also a wide range available for Sony E-, Canon RF-, Nikon Z- and Fujifilm X-mounts From Sigma and From Tamron. See all lenses.
All current system cameras can also record video. If video is your main priority, look out for features such as 4K/60p or 4K/120p recording, 10-bit recording, a microphone input and heat resistance. An example of a camera specialising in video is Sony FX3. Good sound makes a video better, so do have a look at microphones.
Beginners should set aside around 800–1,200 euros, which will buy them a good camera body and a kit lens. You should also set aside money for a memory card, a spare battery and in a camera bag.
If you take your camera with you when travelling and in your day-to-day life, choose a compact system camera and a lightweight lens. The smallest options are APS-C bodies, such as the Fujifilm X-M5, Canon EOS R50 and Sony ZV-E10 II, as well as Micro Four Thirds cameras. Full-frame bodies and their lenses are larger and heavier, but offer the best image quality.
System cameras are very durable, so buying a second-hand one is a smart way to get more for your money. We inspect every camera, and all of them with our second-hand cameras There is a minimum 90-day warranty and a 30-day right of return. You can also trade in your old camera for a new one in exchange for a credit.
Good entry-level cameras include, for example, the Canon EOS R50, the Nikon Z50 II, the Fujifilm X-M5 and, for video, the Sony ZV-E10 II. For those looking for a full-frame camera, the most affordable option is the Nikon Z5. We’ve compared the most popular models in our guide the best camera for a beginner.
Mirrorless. Camera manufacturers have shifted their development entirely towards mirrorless cameras, which offer faster autofocus, a viewfinder that displays the final image, and a lighter body. In practice, new lenses are now being produced almost exclusively for mirrorless systems.
